Heat Pumps: Everything you wanted to know but were afraid to ask.

October 5, 2022 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm

In February 2022, Dr Michael de Podesta gave a talk to Richmond and Twickenham Friends of the Earths monthly meeting about his work to reduce the carbon dioxide emissions from his home. In this talk he will focus on issues specifically concerning heat pumps.

In the future, air-source heat pumps will definitely form a large part of the way we heat our homes in the UK. But at the moment, most people find it hard to work out the likely costs and benefits of switching to a heat pump. And since the likely cost will be several thousand pounds, this makes it hard to decide whether to install one.

In this talk, Michael, a retired scientist from the National Physical Laboratory, will talk through the experience of having a heat pump installed and show data from its first year of operation. The talk will cover relevant questions submitted in advance or on the night.

If you currently heat your home using gas, you may find it especially helpful if you can bring with you with an estimate for how much gas (measured in kWh) you use per year.

The talk is at 7.30 p.m. on Wednesday 5th October at The Exchange, 75 London Rd, Twickenham TW1 1BE. All are welcome but please indicate your interest to info@rtfoe.org.uk as space is limited.
